For a church youth conference, Mike was in charge of a kayaking activity at Birch Bay State Park. The activity comprised two youth from a team kayaking to grab an object off of a buoy.... blindfolded! I rode in the back and gave no instructions at all to the first paddler. But, the second blindfolded kayaker was given quiet instructions from me which helped them get to the buoy much quicker. The activity was intended to educate the youth to listen to the "still small voice" of God over the din of helpful, but less informed individuals.
Meg kayaks blindfolded as she listens to the "still small voice" behind her.GPS Info
We collected all of the following data from our GPS unit during the adventure:Maps
Each colored track in the map below shows the tracks taken by each blindfolded youth. The straighter tracks were those guided by the "still small voice" in the back of the kayak, while the more meandering tracks are from those who were guided by the chaotic voices of their team from the shoreline.
